Costume Parade 2016

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these, it seems… so that means it’s obviously time for another.  The following are our costumes through the years.  If you’ve been around, you’ve probably seen many (or most) of them, before.  If not… I should probably tell you that we do family-wide, themed costumes for Halloween.  No worries – the kids get to pick their own costumes and create their own look when we dress up for Purim.  This is just… more of a family handicraft experience for us – collaborating, working together to procure what we need, brainstorming ideas and helping to build/make/sew our pieces.  It’s fun that we just can’t seem to get enough of.

Please recall, we didn’t actually start going out until Isaac was old enough to walk, so we begin in 2004…

We worked with what we had in 2004 – and did a Disney Halloween.
Here we have Belle and one of the 101 Dalmatians.

Another Disney in 2005 – this time ‘Bear in the Big Blue House’ and Cinderella.
That is a Mr. Potato Head nose, since Bear’s was missing.  Shhh!

In 2006, we did a J.M Barrie Halloween.
Here’s Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, and Tick-Tock the Crock.

On Halloween in 2007, I was giving birth.
So my mom took the kids out… and of course got no pictures.
But here we are days before at Grandma Betty’s pumpkin patch!

2008, Brian’s co-worker got married
and was having a Halloween costume reception.
So I got on-line and found us costumes –
we went as Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf!

In 2009 we were a Western Posse, pardner!

In 2010 we did Wizard of Oz!  Missing from the picture is Brian,
Who we did up as the Wicked Witch.  The effect was horrible… FWIW.
spaceA Harry Potter Halloween in 2011!

We’ve got Harry, Hermoine, Ron, Dobby, Crookshanks, and McGonagal.
Brian was Hagrid.  Someone said he looked like Gene Simmons.  (O.o)
spaceOur 2012 Muppet Show family.
Camilla, Gonzo, Rolf, Fozzy, Kermit, Piggy, and the Swedish Chef.
Sadly, nobody knows the Muppet Show, anymore.
People kept asking if we were ‘Sesame Street’.
spaceh2013For 2013, we did Star Wars.  ((It wasn’t a secret this year.))
R2-D2 even made beeping noises.  It was very kewl.

In 2014, we did the movie, ‘The Avengers’, and they loved it.
It was the cheat-iest we’d done – most were store-bought (we had on-hand),
But it was the most make-up I’ve ever done (Brian as Nick Fury).

NoTe:  I’ve taken some real crap on-line for being ‘racist’ because we costumed a white man as a black one.  This is NOT a racist act, it’s just putting together costumes from a movie for Halloween.  There were just so many characters in the first movie that he could be, that’s all.  And for the record, I was a (powdered) blue-white-face Loki… and it wasn’t racist against Frost Giants, either.

In 2015, we finished reading the Tolkien ‘Lord of the Rings’ series for school, and we were all set on being characters from the books/movies.  Brian was Gandalf the grey, and I was Lady Galadriel.  Isaac is Aragorn, Lydia is Gimli, Ethan as Legolas, Aaron as Elven Lord Elrond, and Owen as Frodo Baggins.

As for this year? Well… what do you think?
